Crypto Traders Go Wall Street While the Market Takes the Weekend 🔥
Trading in perpetual contracts linked to stocks, commodities and other traditional assets reached $347 billion in May 2026, according to CoinGecko, exceeding eight times the volume of tokenized assets traded on spot markets during the first five months of the year. KuCoin has expanded KuCoin TradFi to more than 170 perpetual contracts spanning eight categories as crypto exchanges broaden their reach into traditional markets.
Contracts are available across U.S. equities, including NVIDIA, Tesla, Micron and SanDisk; Asian equities, including Samsung, SK Hynix and Hyundai; semiconductor-linked ETFs and market indices; and commodities such as silver, copper, crude oil and natural gas. The products are USDT-settled futures with no contract expiry, allowing eligible traders to open or close positions 24/7, including when traditional exchanges are closed.
The contracts provide exposure to price movements without ownership of the underlying asset, meaning they do not include dividends or voting rights. Traders can also establish short positions, while leverage, ongoing funding payments or receipts and liquidation risk remain part of the product structure. KuCoin’s capital-management options include UTA and KCUSD integration, although the KCUSD feature is restricted to VIP1+ users.
Liquidity and pricing differ from conventional stock trading. KuCoin’s technical rules acknowledge reduced liquidity and apply special index and mark-price calculations overnight and on weekends, when fresh prices for some underlying shares may be unavailable. Contracts can continue trading under those conditions, but the products remain perpetual derivatives rather than direct ownership of traditional assets.
