IPX to let LINE FRIENDS fans spend minicoin on merch, from Seoul to the Web3 frontier 🪙

Digital IP entertainment company IPX, formerly LINE FRIENDS, plans to introduce a minicoin payment service across LINE FRIENDS online and offline stores, with a phased rollout targeted for the first half of 2027. The service will connect the brand’s online and offline commerce with a Web3-based digital ecosystem and provide customers in Korea and abroad with another way to purchase physical products.

Developed and issued by Mini Labs under an official license from IPX to use the globally popular “minini” character IP, minicoin is a utility coin designed to record IP-related activities on a blockchain. These include fan interactions involving creation, consumption and transactions, with links to registration and settlement processes.

IPX says the payment rollout will extend digital asset payments beyond trading and platform-specific use. “This service rollout marks an important step toward using digital assets to purchase physical merchandise, beyond trading and use within specific platforms,” an IPX official said. “We believe that the value of IP can grow further as it expands beyond connecting with fans through content and products to finding new ways to engage with them across the digital IP ecosystem. We will continue to explore new IP business opportunities that connect IP, fans, and commerce together in this evolving landscape.”

The initiative will also offer international visitors and overseas fans additional payment options. K-POP SQUARE, which opened in Seoul’s Hongdae district in June 2025, welcomed more than one million visitors during its first year, with approximately 80% coming from more than 90 countries.

IPX, previously known as LINE FRIENDS, operates a global character brand built around original characters including BROWN, CONY and SALLY. The characters were created for use as stickers on the LINE mobile messenger app, which had 200 million active users worldwide.
