Garlinghouse Settles the $XRP vs. $RLUSD Debate: “Complementary, Not Competitive”

—By our DeFi Desk1 min read

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse on Nov. 3 rejected the idea that Ripple’s $RLUSD stablecoin competes with $XRP, saying the two assets are complementary rather than competitive.

Garlinghouse was responding to an X post from Vet, a notable member of the $XRP Ledger community, who outlined the key differences between the two Ripple-associated assets. “Well said, Vet. Complementary, not competitive,” the Ripple chief executive tweeted.

His comments framed $RLUSD and $XRP as serving distinct roles within Ripple’s ecosystem, addressing an ongoing debate about the stablecoin’s potential impact on $XRP’s future.
