Anthropic’s $3.5B IPO puts Japan on the ANT waitlist 🇯🇵
Anthropic plans to offer Japanese investors up to $3.5 billion in shares through its upcoming U.S. IPO, according to a Japanese regulatory filing reported on November 2. The filing proposes a sale of 552.9 billion yen, allowing investors in Japan to participate directly in the offering.
Mizuho Securities will manage the Japanese portion of Anthropic’s planned share sale. Goldman Sachs and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities will help process investor orders, while Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities will participate. Mizuho Financial Group and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group will also join the underwriting effort.
Anthropic intends to use the proceeds for working capital, operating expenses and capital investments. The company has not disclosed the IPO’s final size, share price or valuation, although investors have discussed a valuation of $1.5 trillion.
Anthropic filed its IPO registration with U.S. regulators on October 26 and plans to list on Nasdaq under the proposed ticker ANT. The planned distribution would also give investors in Australia, Canada and selected European countries access to the offering, extending the IPO beyond Japanese participants.
