Hong Kong’s Digital Dollar Gets a Fast Lane on Solana 🤑
Anchorpoint plans to issue and redeem the Hong Kong dollar stablecoin HKDAP directly on Solana, adding native support for retail payments, settlement and tokenized asset transactions. The partnership marks Anchorpoint’s first public blockchain foundation collaboration and is designed to enable near-instant settlement for payments and transactions involving tokenized financial assets.
The announcement, made on October 30, did not provide a launch date for the integration. Anchorpoint said Solana’s wallet technology could support connections between HKDAP and corporate partners and consumer applications, while the Solana Foundation joined Anchorpoint’s tokenized money program alongside PwC to support regulated stablecoin development.
HKDAP currently operates on Ethereum through a limited beta program serving institutional and professional users. After completing its final preparations, Anchorpoint plans to extend access to retail customers.
Solana Foundation estimates that approximately USD 4.9 billion in tokenized assets are held on the network, with more than 835,000 people holding tokenized real-world assets. Earlier this month, Securitize introduced tokenized stock trading on Solana, expanding access to blockchain-based securities.
