AEON taps Apertum: $APTM gets a swipe-happy passport to the global checkout
AEON announced a partnership with Apertum that connects the Layer-1 blockchain’s native $APTM token to AEON Pay’s mobile payment network, allowing users to scan and pay with $APTM or make bank transfers across more than 20 countries. The integration, announced from Dubai, UAE, on October 28th, 2026 through Chainwire, supports payments at local stores and more than 100,000 global brands where the service is available, including McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks, ZARA, H&M, Apple, Nike, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Dior.
Supported countries include the USA, Japan, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam, and South Africa. AEON said the integration enables verifiable transactions, on-chain settlement, and immutable receipts for millions of service providers within the Apertum ecosystem. It also aims to improve liquidity and accessibility for new and existing users while making it easier for developers, businesses, and community members to participate in the decentralized ecosystem.
Launched in February 2025, Apertum operates as a general-purpose Layer-1 blockchain within the Avalanche ecosystem. The project says its ecosystem has received three Top Layer-1 Blockchain awards, while $APTM trades on 8 major crypto exchanges and provides access to over 120 million traders worldwide. Its token model is described as deflationary.
The partnership builds on AEON’s existing work with artificial intelligence payments. As one of the earliest official partners of Coinbase's x402 protocol, AEON launched its first AI payment product in May, enabling AI agents to execute on-chain transactions and connect with over 50 million real-world merchants globally.
AEON says its completed cross-chain infrastructure and payment standards now form the foundation for a broader trust-and-scale phase focused on execution verification and expanded settlement across emerging markets and traditional financial rails. Its roadmap includes fully autonomous agent collaboration through a native KYA credit system and full-stack AI financial services. The company’s founding team includes alumni with experience from Binance, Chainlink, Google, HSBC, and GrabPay.
