DTCC puts 34 securities on-chain—Wall Street’s paperwork finally gets a wallet 🪙

The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a subsidiary of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), has launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), enabling eligible clients to mint tokenized representations of eligible securities held at DTC. The service initially supports 34 securities, and 20 institutions have signed agreements to participate, including Alpaca, Citadel Securities, Citi, Clear Street, DriveWealth, Fidelity Investments, Interchange Clearing and JPMorgan. Other participating institutions include Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Barclays.

DTS converts between traditional and tokenized forms of securities that can be transferred to digital wallets while retaining the same ownership rights and investor protections as their traditional counterparts. DTC has more than $114 trillion in assets under custody, including stocks and exchange-traded funds, and said the service would create a “practical path” for tokenized securities adoption. DTCC President and CEO Frank La Salla said the firm was laying the groundwork for “responsible institutional adoption at scale.”

The service is currently integrated with Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with additional blockchain integrations planned for 2027. DTCC is also working with BitGo, Fireblocks, Blockdaemon, Broadridge and Ondo on the rollout, which follows a development process involving more than 150 financial institutions.

In December 2025, the US Securities and Exchange Commission issued a “no action” letter stating that it would not recommend enforcement action against DTCC’s subsidiary in relation to its proposed tokenization program. In May, DTCC said it planned a full service launch for trading tokenized securities in October 2026, following a July 2026 pilot.
