Your AI Might Soon Rebalance Your Crypto—But the Confirm Button Still Says ‘Human’
MEXC launched an AI-agent integration on September 28 that allows users to connect their own AI agents to the exchange, prepare and execute trades, and confirm key actions. MEXC chief executive Vugar Usi, discussing the product with BeInCrypto at TOKEN2049, said investors encounter ideas through restaurant reviews, holiday photos and other people’s experiences before attempting to reproduce them. “I call it a screen-optimised life,” Usi said.
Usi expects greater delegation of investment decisions by 2027 as social trading becomes “a kind of identity signal,” with portfolios reflecting the investors and opportunities people admire. “Sometimes you want to be able to say: I invested in Amazon ten years ago. I was one of the first to discover a certain opportunity.” A FINRA Foundation study published in April, using its 2024 investor survey, found that social activity motivated 59% of investors using social media, compared with 11% of non-users. The study also identified a gap between confidence and tested investment knowledge among social-media users.
Enthusiasm for AI companies helped drive trading on MEXC, Usi said. “That’s the topic everyone is talking about, and it fuelled the trade.” Following a popular theme can make opportunities easier to discover, while determining whether a price makes sense requires separate analysis. MEXC’s October 15 survey of 3,708 crypto traders found that 84.8% had used AI for research or trading, while 65.9% of AI users had acted on its recommendations at least sometimes.
The survey covered MEXC’s sample, and reported improvements reflected users’ impressions rather than independently measured returns. Professional trading also relies on tested strategies and reliable data. “Quant firms have been doing algorithmic trading for years. What AI is doing is helping individual users benefit from that kind of logic,” Usi said. Providing an AI assistant does not establish that an investor can reproduce a quantitative fund’s results.
As trading hours expand, Usi expects autonomous agents to take on more portfolio responsibilities. “Soon I believe we’ll see a lot of autonomous agents that can rebalance your portfolio and act on opportunities.” His comments point to a broader delegation of investment activity as AI systems become more involved in monitoring and acting on crypto opportunities.
