Gold’s One-Network Act Gets a Chainlink Makeover as XGZ Prepares to Go Multi-Chain
Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX) is preparing to enable cross-chain transfers of its gold-backed XGZ token beyond Ethereum through Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). In an October 27, 2026 announcement, Chainlink said GoldZip and Midas Labs are integrating CCIP to move XGZ across supported blockchain networks.
The planned integration would allow holders to transfer XGZ between supported networks instead of limiting the token to its existing Ethereum deployment, where it operates as an ERC-20 token. Each XGZ represents one gram of 99.99% fine physical gold.
Gold redemption starts at 1,000 XGZ and requires eligibility and compliance checks. GoldZip targets physical gold reserves of about $300 million.
