“Dead network” meets “Super Intelligence”: Calacanis sees bitcoin sliding to $57,000
Technology investor and podcast host Jason Calacanis urged followers on Tuesday to sell bitcoin ($BTC), predicting the cryptocurrency would revisit $57,000 within the next 12 months and never set another record high. The target was about 28% below bitcoin’s Tuesday price near $79,600, according to CoinDesk data, while a market ticker accompanying the report showed $BTC at $84,459.46.
Calacanis, who told crypto founders to pivot to artificial intelligence in 2023, wrote on X: “Why put your resources into a dead network that offers nothing beyond a store of value?” He also wrote: “A brutal year for Bitcoin is just getting started. Give me three minutes to explain why you should dump it now. Outflows from ETFs are signal and will continue. We will test the 57k low again in the next 12 months. Why? Because there are far too many dynamic places to…” The post was attributed to @jason (@Jason) on October 27, 2026.
Calacanis said bitcoin had “lost the crowd” that once made owning it feel compulsory and argued investors could now ignore it without being mocked, while AI offered more useful places to put their money. “Just sell and shift from Bitcoin to Super Intelligence,” he wrote. He questioned where bitcoin’s next buyer would come from, arguing that the asset’s long-standing dynamic of fixed supply meeting a steadily growing crowd of buyers was weakening.
Calacanis pointed to withdrawals from bitcoin exchange-traded funds as a warning that more selling would follow. Those funds lost about $774 million across Thursday and Friday, according to Farside Investors, although Monday brought $110 million back in. He said the outflows were a signal and would continue, and framed the shift as pressure to own bitcoin fading while AI absorbed investor excitement.
Calacanis disclosed a stake in TAO, the token behind Bittensor, an AI network that rewards participants for providing computing, storage, AI responses and other services used to build artificial intelligence. He said tokens still have a place in his own portfolio as long as they pay people to build AI.
