Polymarket US plays hardball with Ohio over sports contracts

QCX LLC, doing business as Polymarket US, sued Ohio officials on Oct. 16 to block enforcement against its sports-event contracts, alleging federal preemption and challenging the state’s licensing rules as unconstitutional.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Eastern Division. It names Attorney General Andy Wilson, Ohio Casino Control Commission interim executive director Andromeda Morrison and the commission’s seven members, all in their official capacities.

Polymarket US is seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions preventing enforcement, along with a declaration that Ohio’s gambling laws are unconstitutional as applied to the exchange and preempted by federal law. The complaint also requests attorneys’ fees and costs.
