MEXC Boots Russia and Belarus as Bitget Tightens the Geo-Walls
MEXC will discontinue services for users in Russia and Belarus effective October 20, 2026, the Seychelles-based crypto exchange said, citing “ongoing efforts to enhance global compliance.”
The move follows Bitget’s addition of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to its list of prohibited jurisdictions. Bitget’s trading restrictions took effect mid-October, with forced position closures.
MEXC also issued a phishing warning, urging affected users not to click unverified links or respond to unofficial communications claiming to represent the platform.
The service changes come amid EU and UK sanctions pressure, including action against Justin Sun’s HTX. Russia and Belarus are also developing regulated domestic crypto markets, with Moscow Exchange, Sberbank, and new Belarusian crypto banks filling the gap.
