Knock, Knock: Binance US and Blockchain.com Seek CFTC Prediction-Market Approval

Binance US and Blockchain.com have filed with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) seeking approvals to offer regulated prediction markets and related derivatives to US customers.

Blockchain.com has applied for licenses for a Designated Contract Market (DCM) to operate as a regulated futures exchange and a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) to act as a broker for derivatives contracts.

Approval would enable Blockchain.com to list event contracts, allowing retail and institutional US customers to take positions on real-world outcomes such as sports, politics, or economic events alongside crypto derivatives including futures and options.

Blockchain.com already offers prediction markets through a partnership with Polymarket and perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid for eligible international users. The filings come as crypto companies expand beyond crypto assets amid a prolonged market downturn.
