XRPL Cleaners Report for Duty: 29 Validators Vote Yes, Lending Still Waiting in the Lobby 🧹
The XRP Ledger's fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment is on track to activate on the XRP Ledger at 09:34 UTC on October 23, after securing support from 29 of 35 trusted validators, according to the XRPL amendment tracker. The amendment, which packages fixes across newer decentralized finance infrastructure, includes precision and rounding changes for vault deposits, withdrawals, and clawbacks, along with refinements to freeze, authorization, credential, and destination handling for Single Asset Vaults and the Lending Protocol. Votes for the amendment were recorded at 29 on October 9 and remained at 29 as of October 19.
XRPL's amendment activation process requires support above 80% throughout a two-week voting period. Votes are counted at flag ledgers, which occur roughly every 16.5 minutes, so activation begins at the first flag ledger after the period concludes rather than at its precise expiration time, with the ledger's record retaining final authority over the tracker count. The projected October 23 activation remains conditional on the voting threshold holding through the remainder of the window.
Separate proposals aimed at expanding the XRP Ledger's decentralized finance ecosystem have yet to clear the same threshold. Lending-focused amendments, which could allow users to lend assets and access new financial services directly on the network, received fewer than the required votes and remain at different stages of approval. Additional amendments covering new methods for managing digital assets on the ledger also remain pending.
If approved and implemented, the lending-related changes would mark the addition of native lending functionality to the XRP Ledger, complementing the Single Asset Vaults and other DeFi primitives included in the cleanup package. The distinction between the two tracks means that while reliability fixes appear poised to ship this week, the broader DeFi expansion hinges on validators returning to the ballot during a future voting window.
