Super League Reborn: Shareholders Greenlight Metaplanet's 2,100 $BTC Power Move Into America 🌍
Super League shareholders have approved a proposal from Tokyo-based Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet to convert the company into a U.S. Bitcoin treasury entity that will operate under the name Superplanet, according to an X post by Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich. Under the terms of the agreement, Metaplanet will invest 2,100 BTC along with cash in Super League and hold more than 93% of the common stock once the deal closes.
The transaction will see Super League rebranded as Superplanet, a U.S.-domiciled Bitcoin treasury firm that will rank among the top 50 such companies globally. Gerovich framed the approval as an important step in Metaplanet's strategy to evolve into a "global Bitcoin-native financial platform." The vote comes roughly two months after initial reports that Metaplanet intended to contribute 2,100 BTC to launch the new entity through a controlling stake in Super League.
Gerovich said the structure will give Metaplanet direct access to U.S. capital markets and added flexibility for raising capital, complementing Metaplanet Securities in Japan. Shares of Super League trade under the ticker SLGG, and the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
