11.8 Billion XRP Now Hanging Out on Exchanges, and Everyone's Watching the Exits

XRP exchange reserves have climbed to roughly 11.81 billion tokens, a level CryptoQuant data places at the 99th percentile of the trailing 365 days and the highest reading in the past year. XRP trades close to $1.31, bouncing from recent lows between $1.25 and $1.29, according to BeInCrypto data. Rising reserves typically expand the pool of tokens available to sell into the market, a factor market participants are weighing against concurrent shifts in derivatives positioning.

The supply build coincided with a marked leverage reset on Binance. Binance open interest closed at about $453 million, down roughly 15.8% from earlier in the month, while long liquidations reached $25.7 million over October 7 and 8. Funding rates turned negative on several days, indicating that speculative longs were flushed out rather than rebuilt. Analyst CryptoOnchain flagged the reset as having moved faster than the increase in exchange supply, leaving Binance's own XRP reserves only in the 30th percentile even as the aggregate figure hit a yearly high.

The next directional signal depends on where the elevated balances move next. Withdrawals to private wallets or cold storage would reduce immediate sell-side liquidity, while fresh deposits would extend it. Past cycles have seen leverage resets precede steadier price action once reserves are absorbed, though elevated aggregate balances historically keep short-term volatility or range-bound trading on the table. Binance XRP open interest, estimated liquidation ratio, long liquidations and funding rate data from CryptoQuant frame the derivatives backdrop behind the reserves move.

Structural demand factors remain in view. Evernorth has assembled a 473 million XRP treasury, and spot XRP ETFs have recorded roughly $1.8 billion in inflows. Analyst Ali Martinez pointed to a jump in XRP Ledger on-chain volume near the $1.25 support area as a possible bottom signal, noting that a sustained close above $1.56 could open the path to $2 while a break below $1.25 targets $1.00. Upcoming exchange flow data will show whether reserves continue climbing or begin to draw down.
