XRP ETFs Break 13-Week Streak, So Does the Ledger's Volume 📉
U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds posted their first weekly net outflow in three months during the October 12–16 trading period, ending a 13-week streak of net inflows, according to SoSoValue data. The reversal came in at roughly $1.84 million in net withdrawals, a modest figure for products of this size but one that followed a cumulative inflow position of about $1.8 billion as of mid-October, per SoSoValue. Early-week flows were largely flat, with the funds taking in about $740,000 on Wednesday before tipping into negative territory. Friday's larger redemption of approximately $2.47 million pushed the weekly total into the red, with most of the move attributed to Canary Capital's XRPC product. Without that single redemption, the week would have closed with a net inflow of roughly $630,000.
The timing coincides with a softer price tape for $XRP, which traded near $1.28, down 1.60% over the previous 24 hours and moving about 6.3% over the past month, according to BeInCrypto data. Price action has been testing support near $1.30 after failing to hold above key moving averages.
On-chain activity has also cooled sharply. XRP Ledger payment volume fell to 119.5 million XRP on October 17, a 72.3% single-day drop that sits well below the 30-day average of 629.3 million XRP, according to XRPSCAN. The figure marks one of the weaker single-session readings in recent history against the network's all-time high of roughly 7 billion XRP, per XRPSCAN data. Payment volume on the Ledger has historically shown high volatility, with frequent short-lived spikes followed by sharp pullbacks.
Analysts noted in the original reporting that a single weak day does not necessarily signal a structural decline in network usage. They added that if payment activity stays suppressed and ETF flows remain negative or muted, the short-term outlook could weaken, making the next several sessions of on-chain data the more relevant signal. For now, both institutional and network-level activity around XRP have softened at least for the moment.
