Postbank Goes Crypto: Bulgaria's Fourth-Largest Bank Plots In-App BTC by 2027 🏦

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Eurobank Bulgaria, the country's fourth-largest lender operating under the Postbank brand, will integrate stocks, ETFs, crypto assets, commodities, and gold directly into its Postbank App, with rollout targeted for early 2027. The service will be powered by an as-yet-unnamed international investment platform operating as a white-label partner, allowing Postbank to offer trading functionality without building proprietary crypto infrastructure.

The white-label approach mirrors a growing European template. Fibank, also based in Bulgaria, has adopted the same model, while Deutsche Bank has pursued a similar path, working with partners to deliver Bitcoin and Ethereum custody services. Germany's DZ Bank has likewise explored regulated crypto offerings through third-party providers, reflecting how MiCA regulations have standardized third-party integration across the bloc.

Crypto assets held through the in-app service will fall outside Bulgaria's deposit guarantee schemes, a structural distinction that separates digital holdings from insured fiat balances. With no platform partner disclosed, the precise scope of available assets, fee structure, and custody arrangements remains unverified.

The bank has not announced specific tickers or asset lists for launch, though ETFs, commodities, and gold are expected to feature alongside digital assets. The early 2027 timeline positions Postbank among a second wave of European incumbents embedding trading into existing retail banking rails, following custody pilots rather than building full-stack exchanges.

The move underscores how MiCA-era compliance has made regulated white-label partnerships the default architecture for traditional banks entering crypto, allowing legacy institutions to extend offerings without assuming direct custody or market-making risk.
