Bitget Tells Certain Users "It's Not You, It's Us" — Services Ending in One-Off Cleanup 🧹
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget announced it will discontinue services for a select group of users in what the platform described as a one-off exercise, assuring customers their funds will remain safe throughout the transition. In a post on X on Saturday, the exchange confirmed that its crypto platform continues to operate normally and that the service change applies only to certain accounts.
Affected users will be notified directly by email, in-app messages and/or push notifications outlining the next steps, relevant deadlines and arrangements for withdrawal. Users who have not received official communication from Bitget can continue using their accounts as usual, the exchange said. The platform also provided a link where customers can confirm the safety of their assets: https://abcdstable.com/academy/how-to-verify-your-assets-in-bitget. Bitget's customer support team remains available to assist with pending orders, withdrawals and other account-related questions during the process.
Bitget urged users to rely solely on official channels and to remain cautious of phishing links, impersonation accounts and unverified information circulating online. The reminder comes against the backdrop of recent security concerns at the exchange. Cointelegraph reported on Sept. 25 that Bitget had confirmed unauthorized transfers and temporarily suspended withdrawals while it investigated a security breach. A security company later estimated the total amount stolen in the breach at approximately $388 million.
The exchange has not publicly identified which users are affected by the discontinuation or specified the criteria used to select accounts for the one-off exercise. Bitget has also not indicated whether the service change is connected to the September security incident or is part of a separate compliance or operational review. The platform reiterated that impacted customers will receive individualized guidance and that withdrawals of remaining balances will be facilitated according to the timelines provided in their notifications.
The episode adds another chapter to a turbulent year for centralized crypto exchanges, with the Bitget breach ranking among the larger documented incidents by estimated loss. Bitget's latest communication emphasizes user verification and direct outreach as the primary channels through which affected customers will learn about their account status and next steps.
