Ripple Hands XRP the Keys to Evernorth, Wall Street Says "Yield Me Later" 🗝️

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse used the Nasdaq debut of Evernorth Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: XRPN) on October 14 to outline new yield-generating and institutional investment strategies for $XRP. The Ripple-backed company, led by CEO Asheesh Birla, began trading as a publicly listed vehicle designed to give investors exposure to $XRP through an active digital asset treasury. Garlinghouse framed the structure as a potential template for products that go beyond holding $XRP for price appreciation.

Speaking at the Nasdaq listing day event, Garlinghouse said Evernorth could eventually deliver more than conventional $XRP exposure by tapping on-chain capabilities to generate yield. "The ability to leverage even some of the on-chain capabilities to leverage yield" could help build institutional products, he said, adding that opportunities could be structured both on-chain and off-chain. "You're going to see some interesting leverage and yield opportunities," Garlinghouse said, with these products potentially contributing to $XRP's broader adoption.

When asked why Ripple contributed a significant amount of $XRP to Evernorth, Garlinghouse said supporting the community has been part of Ripple's strategy "since really its inception." He noted that this support sometimes extends beyond $XRP because Ripple believes in "a multi-chain world," and said his trust in Birla's leadership was central to the decision to back the treasury company. Garlinghouse credited Birla for assembling a team capable of offering differentiated investment strategies on $XRP.

Garlinghouse also pointed to expanding access to crypto investments as a motivation for the listing, saying a publicly traded investment vehicle could connect with investors in ways that direct token ownership does not. He positioned Evernorth's debut as part of Ripple's ongoing effort to back projects within its ecosystem while signaling that $XRP may sit at the center of future treasury-style products.
