Pixa Chain Rolls Out 250 Free On-Chain Seats a Day—Because Even Algorithms Need a Good Front Row

Panama City, Panama-based Pixagram will waive the roughly 20 PIXA network fee for up to 250 new accounts every day through the end of 2026, the project announced on October 15, allowing creators to register a permanent @username at Pixagram.com at no cost. The platform runs on Pixa, a standalone Layer-1 blockchain that produces a block every three seconds, and positions itself as an anti-hierarchy social network where every post, comment and vote is recorded as a signed on-chain transaction with no advertising and no required token purchase. New users can claim a free handle, with Pixagram covering the gas fee up to the daily cap.

Pixagram stores content directly on-chain rather than relying on external servers or IPFS, addressing a common NFT problem in which a token outlives its associated artwork. Lossless images are embedded inside each post and can render pixel art up to 4K resolution in formats ranging from painting and CRT filters to hexagonal or square pixel styles. Every artwork is checked for copies using PAPH-X, an open-source perceptual fingerprint for pixel art, and indexed by the project's Search V4 engine. Built on the Hive codebase with Steem lineage, the Pixa chain launched from a clean genesis block with no airdrop.

Rather than Proof-of-Work mining, Pixagram operates on Proof-of-Brain, a system that allocates rewards based on posting, commenting and voting activity. Co-founder Matias Affolter framed the project's stance against mainstream platforms, saying, "The old internet wants you trapped in feed fog, renting reach from gatekeepers who track every click. Today information is king, and Pixagram operates outside that hierarchy... Don't believe the hype. Create it." Co-founder Mathiew Estepho highlighted the subsidy, stating, "The strongest rebellion is a working alternative. The free-account promotion is limited to 250 new members per day and runs until December 31, 2026, with Pixagram noting that once a username is registered on-chain it cannot be reissued.
