Rakuten Wallet Hands Out Metal Dogecoin… Wait, It’s SHIB 🐕
Rakuten Wallet is giving Shiba Inu holders a physical souvenir coin at an upcoming seminar, despite SHIB sliding on the back of US inflation data. The Japanese exchange will distribute the metal tokens, first introduced in July 2026, at an event scheduled for November 3, where Rakuten Wallet senior analyst Matsuda is set to speak. Each coin features a sandblasting finish and has no technical link to the blockchain or to actual SHIB tokens, functioning solely as a collectible.
The giveaway requires participants to display a screen showing their SHIB holdings in the Rakuten Wallet app, after which staff hand over a physical coin regardless of position size. Rakuten Wallet previously distributed the coins at a Fukuoka event and plans further distributions at seminars in Sapporo and Osaka. The exchange has supported Shiba Inu since adding the token to its trading lineup in April, and the "Real Coin" series already includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP alongside the newly added metal SHIB piece.
Market conditions surrounding the promotion were unfavorable. SHIB was trading down roughly 2.23% over 24 hours to about $0.00000496, extending a multi-day decline. The drop followed higher-than-expected US inflation data, which raised concerns about potential shifts in monetary policy. Rakuten Wallet has framed the seminars as educational sessions pairing investment content with a physical reward designed to engage holders beyond the trading interface.
