Banks, Ledgers & Ledger Lines: Cross River Hooks RLUSD to XRP 🏦⚡

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Cross River Bank has signed an agreement with Ripple to integrate the RLUSD stablecoin into its banking infrastructure on the XRP Ledger, the two firms confirmed, marking a new link between a U.S. chartered bank and a dollar-denominated token issued by a major blockchain payments company.

Under the arrangement, RLUSD will be embedded into Cross River's proprietary Core Operating System (COS), connecting traditional banking services with blockchain-based payments through a single API. Cross River said the integration will allow businesses to move funds between USD and RLUSD, support ACH transfers, wire payments and real-time settlement, and process international transfers and after-hours treasury operations without maintaining multiple blockchain systems.

"Businesses shouldn't have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe," said Adam Goller, Cross River's Head of Fintech Banking. The bank framed the deal as a consolidation play for fintech clients operating across both fiat and digital asset rails.

Ripple, which issues RLUSD, will gain expanded institutional reach as Cross River's network of fintech partners gains native access to the stablecoin. The bank noted the collaboration extends beyond core payments: through its prior work with Privy, Cross River clients can already access XRP Ledger payments via wallets denominated in XRP and RLUSD, a setup the bank says complements the new banking-rail integration.

The tie-up lands as RLUSD's market capitalization has crossed $2.5 billion, reflecting accelerating institutional and payment-rail adoption of the stablecoin since its launch. Cross River described the integration as part of a broader push to give financial institutions a unified platform for ACH, wires, real-time settlement, cross-border transfers and stablecoin-denominated transactions.

The integration is expected to roll out across Cross River's fintech partner base in phases, with Ripple and Cross River positioning the project as infrastructure for banks and payment companies building regulated digital asset services on $XRP-based rails.
