Grayscale + Republic: DeFi, AI & Data Crypto Funds Now Open to the Masses (Sort Of) 🎯

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Grayscale has partnered with Republic to distribute three cryptocurrency investment funds covering decentralized finance, artificial intelligence and blockchain data networks, with eligible investors able to participate starting at a minimum of $2,500. The agreement was announced on October 15, expanding retail and accredited access to products historically reserved for institutional players.

Republic will offer the Grayscale DeFi Fund (ticker: DEFG), the Grayscale Decentralized AI Fund and the Grayscale Data Network Trust through its platform. Eligible investors can gain exposure to the funds without purchasing or storing the underlying cryptocurrencies directly. The products remain restricted to qualified investors and carry risks associated with private investment vehicles.

Republic co-CEO Andrew Durgee said the agreement provides access to funds typically available to institutional investors, confirming that investors could participate with a "minimum investment of just $2,500." The Grayscale DeFi Fund holds six tokens, while the AI and data network vehicles target distinct blockchain sectors tied to artificial intelligence and decentralized data infrastructure.

The partnership follows recent regulatory engagement by large asset managers pursuing compliant crypto offerings. On October 12, Franklin Templeton met with the SEC to discuss digital asset products under the Investment Company Act (ICA), signaling continued institutional momentum around regulated crypto investment structures.
