Straknet's Shadow Accounts Let You Hide Your Wallet, But Not Your Crimes · STRK -12% 🎯

Starknet crypto (STRK) launched Shadow Accounts on Oct. 14, 2026, introducing application-specific addresses that decouple a user's main wallet from their onchain actions. Announced by StarkWare via a post reading "Safe in the shadow. Tomorrow," the feature lets applications offer a "Public → Private" switch using disposable addresses funded privately from the STRK20 pool. Each Shadow Account generates its own address for deposits, transaction history and positions.

The privacy model is narrowly scoped. Shadow Accounts obscure the link between a user's primary wallet and the activity conducted through an application, but the balances, transactions and positions recorded under the Shadow Account itself remain fully visible onchain. StarkWare framed the rollout as a privacy layer around DeFi identity rather than a mechanism for invisible execution.

The feature is positioned as a STRK20 privacy primitive within the broader Starknet ecosystem. Users can fund a Shadow Account privately from the STRK20 pool and then interact with supported applications through that disposable address, with the underlying activity still subject to public inspection on the blockchain.

The launch has not insulated STRK from broader market pressure. The token is down 12% over the past 24 hours, one of the steepest declines across the market, trading at $0.079 on daily volume of $177 million.
