Ripple + Privy: Because Even XRP Wallets Needed a Little Server-Side Therapy 🛠️

—By our DeFi Desk2 min read

Ripple has partnered with Privy, a Stripe-owned wallet infrastructure company, to expand payment capabilities on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for $XRP and $RLUSD. The integration brings Privy's programmable wallet infrastructure to the network, allowing developers and fintechs to build consumer payment applications on XRPL.

According to a Privy blog post, the partnership enables developers to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build experiences using $XRP, $RLUSD, and other digital assets native to the ledger. "With Privy, developers will be able to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build experiences using XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets on XRPL," the company stated.

Privy also said the infrastructure will allow fintechs to offer embedded wallets to users for stablecoin payments without requiring them to manage their own private keys. In addition, the company highlighted server-side wallet functionality designed for AI agents to transact, including through the X402 payment infrastructure referenced by the firm.

Ripple confirmed the partnership in a post on X, noting the collaboration extends XRPL's developer tooling. Privy, acquired by Stripe in 2024, positions itself as a key infrastructure provider for on-chain wallet access across multiple networks, and the XRPL integration adds $XRP and $RLUSD to the list of supported assets for programmatic wallet deployment.
