Bitcoin's $126K Ghost: Two Analysts, One Mid-2027 Reunion Tour 📈
Bitcoin currently trades roughly 35% below its record peak of $126,000, and two independent technical models now place a potential return to that level around June 2027.
Analyst Root, writing under the newsletter comparison, compared the current cycle with three previous ones and noted that Bitcoin historically required about two years from a bottom before printing fresh highs, a pattern the last cycle broke after spot ETF approvals. "If Bitcoin follows a similar recovery trajectory as previous cycles, instead of the historical two years, we should reach new ATHs by around the one-year mark at the latest, around June 2027," Root said, with cycle comparisons moving above the scaled ATH level by roughly day 350 in 2015, 2018, and 2022, and the 2018 cycle reaching the threshold near day 150. Root's chart therefore points to a possible window roughly two to six months from now, though the call assumes the local low near $60,000, set after a roughly 52% drawdown from the October 2025 peak, holds as the cycle bottom.
A second analyst, comparison, frames the longer view around an ascending structure that has contained $BTC on the three-week timeframe since 2021, with every cycle high and every cycle low forming above the last. The 2026 low bounced off channel support, and the next projected ATH sits near $170,000, with the chart clearing that mark around mid-2027 before a full cycle peak arrives in 2028, a path that broadly overlaps with the comparison timeline.
Both frameworks face counterpoints. comparison Research found that similar rebounds retested their lows in four of five past cases, returns between successive peaks are compressing, the 2021–2025 move between peaks was about 83%, and a $170,000 top would deliver roughly 35%, and the channel itself rests on only two touches per boundary. Comparison has separately argued that Bitcoin may abandon the four-year rhythm for a longer comparison cycle, while Root also flags rising rates and their effect on the recovery path as additional variables to watch.
