DeFi Development Adds Another 22,070 SOL, Because Apparently 2.57 Million Was Just a Warm-Up 🪙
Nasdaq-listed DeFi Development Corp. has acquired approximately 22,070 SOL and SOL equivalents, lifting its Solana treasury to roughly 2,586,282 tokens, according to the company. The latest purchase, valued at about $2.43 million, brings the firm's total holdings to approximately 2.59 million SOL and represents a 12% increase from its second-quarter earnings release on August 12.
The company continues to expand its digital asset position through a long-term treasury policy that includes operating validator nodes and collecting staking rewards. CEO Joseph Onorati framed the accumulation as conviction-driven rather than volatility-driven, stating, "We don't change our conviction or our commitment to accumulating SOL on a short-term volatility basis." The new acquisition follows other recent additions, including a 19,000 SOL purchase announced in August.
To fund further accumulation, DeFi Development established a $300 million at-the-market preferred share program for CHAD, giving the firm a structured financing vehicle to continue deploying capital into Solana. The CHAD program has reached record trading highs even as the broader cryptocurrency market has sold off in recent weeks. CHAD currently carries a 13% annual dividend rate.
The company's holdings are now valued at several hundred million dollars based on recent SOL pricing, and it has positioned itself as one of the most active corporate accumulators of Solana among publicly traded firms. DeFi Development said it will continue to evaluate additional purchases consistent with its treasury strategy.
