Canton Network's Seoul Sprint: Wall Street's Favorite Blockchain Finds Korea Very Accommodating 🇰🇷

Canton Network, the institutional blockchain backed by Goldman Sachs, BNP Paribas, Nasdaq, and Citadel Securities, is deepening its foothold in South Korea through a cluster of partnerships with major financial and technology firms. Shinhan Financial Group, Hanwha, and LG CNS have each established agreements with the network to support institutional financial services and digital asset infrastructure.

Shinhan Financial Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canton Foundation in June. That was followed in July by investments from Shinhan Securities and Shinhan Venture Investment into Digital Asset, the developer of Canton. In October, Shinhan Asset Management became the first Korean financial institution approved as a Canton Network super validator, granting it a role in network operations.

Hanwha Investment & Securities signed its own agreement with Digital Asset in April and later invested approximately 30 billion won ($22.44 million) in July. LG CNS has separately entered a strategic partnership with Canton, extending the network's reach into South Korea's technology sector.

The Asian push is not limited to Korea. SBI Digital Practice has adopted Canton's blockchain infrastructure in Japan, signaling a broader regional expansion beyond its Wall Street origins. The network is designed to let financial institutions process transactions and manage digital assets with built-in privacy controls suited to institutional use.

The coordinated moves position Canton among the more visible enterprise blockchain efforts courting regulated finance, with backing from global banks and trading firms paired with growing ties to Korean conglomerates.
