Gram's Got a Wallet, Wallet's Got a Rival — GRAM Pops 9% 🚀
Telegram has begun rolling out Money, its non-custodial wallet for Gram transfers and collectible purchases, to a wider slice of the messaging app's more than one billion users. Money had previously been limited to a subset of Telegram users, and the broader deployment was announced by the Money team on Friday. The wallet appears after a user receives an incoming transfer, supports instant Gram transfers with zero network fees, and enables purchases of gifts and collectible usernames. Users can top up their Money balance from Walt "in a few taps," according to the announcement.
Money is positioned strictly for Gram-based activity inside Telegram, while Walt handles broader crypto functionality, supporting more than 300 assets including $BTC, $ETH and Solana, as well as tokenized stocks and other instruments. The split places Telegram's two in-app crypto products into distinct lanes: Gram-native transactions in Money, and multi-asset trading and investing in Walt. The Money rollout gives Telegram users another route to obtain Gram without going through an external exchange.
The token formerly known as Toncoin reacted to the news, climbing 9% to $1.56. Market capitalization reached $4.12 billion and 24-hour trading volume rose 41% alongside the price move, with the price quoted in U.S. dollars and the ticker referenced as GRAM.
The expansion is the latest step in Telegram's effort to integrate Gram into its messaging platform, following earlier limited releases of the wallet to select user groups. Telegram has not disclosed a completion date for the rollout or indicated when Money support will reach the full installed base of the application.
