Barclays Pumps Strategy Target to $175, MSTR Apparently Hears "To The Moon" 📈

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Barclays lifted its 12-month price target for Strategy (MSTR) to $175 from $160, sending shares of the Bitcoin-focused software-turned-treasury company up more than 3.6% in Tuesday's session to $157.02 at the time of writing. The upgrade, issued by Barclays analyst Nik Cremo, places Strategy within the firm's coverage universe of US payments and fintech service providers, framing the company alongside traditional financial-technology operators despite its flagship corporate balance-sheet exposure to $BTC.

The move comes as Bitcoin rebounded from a 24-hour low near $80,300 to trade around $82,700, providing a tailwind for MSTR, which holds a substantial BTC stockpile on its balance sheet. With the latest gain, the stock has added more than 18% over the past 30 days and roughly 22% over the past six months, according to Yahoo Finance data cited in coverage of the upgrade.

Barclays' revised $175 target implies additional upside from current trading levels, though the figure remains a forward-looking estimate and not a guarantee of price. The analyst's reassignment of Strategy into the payments and fintech cohort reflects the firm's broader pivot under executive chairman Michael Saylor, whose aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy has reshaped the company's identity since 2020.

Strategy's premium to the underlying value of its Bitcoin holdings has long been a focus for institutional analysts, with bulls pointing to software operations, debt-funded BTC buys, and convertible-note mechanics as justification for trading above net asset value. Barclays' raised target adds another datapoint to that ongoing debate, even as the firm itself has periodically sold shares or issued debt to accumulate additional tokens.

MSTR's intraday move was reported by Coingape, which noted that the stock's gain coincided with Bitcoin's recovery from sub-$81,000 levels and a broader risk-on tone across crypto-linked equities. No additional quotes from Cremo or Strategy executives were included in the published coverage at the time of reporting.
