XRP Slips 5% to $1.42, Analyst Maps Road to $2 🚦
XRP fell 5% to $1.42 in the latest session, extending a pullback that has put the token back near levels last seen before its recent push above $1.50. The move comes as traders weigh competing technical signals and a broader risk-off tone across digital assets.
Market analyst Tony "The Bull" Severino of Peak Trading Research told Crypto News Room that XRP is consolidating within a descending channel on the four-hour chart, with immediate support sitting around the $1.38 to $1.40 zone. "The setup is straightforward: hold $1.38 and XRP has a clear path to $2," Severino said. "Lose it, and we're looking at a deeper retest of $1.25 before any meaningful bounce."
Severino identified a series of resistance levels at $1.52, $1.65 and $1.78, noting that a decisive break and daily close above $1.65 would be the trigger for a renewed leg toward the psychologically significant $2 mark. He added that trading volume on XRP pairs has cooled notably since the token's earlier advance, a pattern he described as "healthy digestion" rather than a structural shift in demand.
The pullback in XRP mirrored weakness across major tokens, with $BTC and $ETH also trading lower amid thin liquidity in the U.S. session. On-chain data cited by Severino shows a modest uptick in XRP wallet accumulation among addresses holding between 10,000 and 100,000 tokens, while exchange balances have declined by roughly 1.8% over the past week, both metrics he reads as constructive for medium-term supply dynamics.
XRP is now down approximately 12% from its 30-day high, and the token's implied volatility has risen to a one-month peak of 68%, according to options market data referenced in the analysis. Severino stressed that any path to $2 would likely require a supportive backdrop from Bitcoin and a broader rotation back into altcoins, neither of which is guaranteed.
