Securitize Pairs Up with LG CNS, Because Korea Wants Its Tokens Served Neat 🇰🇷
Securitize and LG CNS signed a memorandum of understanding to develop tokenized assets and digital asset infrastructure aimed at South Korean financial institutions, the companies said Tuesday. Securitize will bring its regulated tokenization expertise while LG CNS contributes its financial-sector technology services and its network across South Korea, with the two firms jointly pursuing opportunities with financial institutions in South Korea and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership will focus on tokenized funds, tokenized securities and stablecoin infrastructure for institutional clients, alongside technology designed to align with South Korea's evolving regulatory framework.
Shares of Securitize (SECZ) jumped nearly 8% in early Tuesday trading to around $12.60, outperforming most major crypto-linked stocks, before pulling back later in the morning. Securitize began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in July after completing its merger with special purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners II. LG CNS separately unveiled its own blockchain platform on Tuesday, designed to help banks and other financial companies support stablecoins and tokenized securities.
The agreement lands as South Korea prepares to implement a new tokenized securities framework. Last week, the country's Financial Services Commission proposed rules governing the issuance and circulation of tokenized stocks, bonds, funds and other securities, with the framework set to take effect in February 2027.
"South Korea is a key market for institutional tokenization," Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo said. "Our goal is to help build the infrastructure that can bring more high-quality financial products onchain in Korea." Domingo added that the partnership is intended to create a stronger link between Korean institutions and global capital markets.
Securitize has established itself as a major participant in the tokenized real-world asset market, which has grown to roughly $40 billion. Tokenized equities were valued at roughly $3.2 billion, up 10.6% over the past 30 days, according to RWA.xyz data. At the ETHConf event in July, Domingo said tokenized stocks could help push the overall crypto market to a $5 trillion valuation.
