Ramaswamy's Ohio Run Stays Quiet on Crypto Despite $2B BTC Stash and Crypto Million$
Vivek Ramaswamy, who once peppered his 2024 presidential stump speeches with praise for Bitcoin ($BTC) and warnings against central bank digital currencies, is pursuing the Ohio governor's office in 2025 without making digital assets a leading topic on the trail. Before announcing his gubernatorial campaign in February 2025, Ramaswamy posted in support of the Ohio Strategic Cryptocurrency Reserve Act, a state bill that would allow the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
During his presidential bid, Ramaswamy regularly issued statements opposing central bank digital currencies, praised Bitcoin and its mining operations, and appeared as a keynote speaker at industry events. After Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential race, he tapped Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk; Ramaswamy departed before formally taking a role in the administration. Following the launch of his gubernatorial campaign, Ramaswamy spoke at the Bitcoin for America conference in March and at Bitcoin 2025 in May, and his campaign website accepts donations in crypto.
His campaign has drawn significant crypto-linked financial support. Co-founders of the Trump family's crypto company World Liberty Financial — Chase Herro, Zak Folkman and Zachary Witkoff — each donated the maximum allowable amount of $16,615. Other industry-affiliated donors have contributed millions to his Super PAC "V-PAC: Victors, Not Victims," including $20 million from Susquehanna International Group co-founder Jeff Yass, $6 million from NYDIG founder Ross Stevens, $5 million from Elon Musk and $5,000 from the Bitcoin Voter Project.
Ramaswamy retains his stake in Strive, the asset manager he co-founded in 2022. Strive reported holding 23,156 BTC, valued at about $2 billion as of Aug. 28. An August filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission showed the candidate held 5,693,897 shares in the company, worth more than $170 million as of Sept. 26. In September 2025, Strive announced plans to enter the digital asset market with a Bitcoin Bond ETF focused on bonds issued by companies acquiring BTC. Ramaswamy also reported personally holding more than $1,000 in $BTC and Ether ($ETH) as of April.
Cointelegraph reached out to the Ramaswamy campaign but did not receive a response to repeated requests for an interview.
