XRP Goes Seoul: 5,500 On-Chain Converts Can't Be Wrong 🚀
More than 5,500 attendees are gathered at the Grand Hyatt Seoul for XRP Seoul 2026, where Ripple President Monica Long used a fireside chat to outline how financial institutions are moving activity onto the XRP Ledger through collateral mobility, tokenized assets and payment infrastructure. The discussion was moderated by Christina Chan, Senior Director of Ecosystem Growth at Ripple, and the XRPSeoul2026 X account summarized the takeaways as the institutional shift into capital-market use cases, the construction of institutional-grade rails on XRPL and the broader growth of the ecosystem.
Four Korean financial institutions joined Ripple on stage in Seoul. Jeonbuk Bank, according to an August 18, 2026 announcement from Ripple, is deploying Ripple Payments for cross-border business remittances, a step the company described as the first such deployment by a regional bank in Korea and one intended to provide near-real-time settlement. Kbank appeared with two documented initiatives: a remittance pilot targeting the UAE and Thailand, and institutional wallet-as-a-service infrastructure through Ripple Custody for managing digital assets.
The event also surfaced additional Korean institutional activity. The event account connected Kyobo Life, associated with Kyobo Securities, to work on tokenized government-bond settlement, while Woori Bank was described as working with Korean custodian BDACS, which manages $XRP for institutional clients. Ripple introduced XRP Asia at the Seoul event as a regional initiative to promote the XRP Ledger, positioning Korea as a focal point for tokenized deposits and cross-border payment use cases built on $XRP.
