Drift Hands Out One DFX for Every Buck Lost — Recovery Pool Says "Good Luck, It's 3.11M Deep" 💸
The Drift Foundation has opened claims and redemptions for DFX, its recovery token issued to users who suffered verified losses in the April 1, 2026 exploit on the Solana-based perps protocol. Eligible wallets are receiving one DFX token for every 1 USDT of verified loss, with claims processed by connecting the wallet that controlled the user's Drift account on the date of the incident. Drift Foundation was linked to the April exploit by on-chain investigator ZachXBT, whose reporting exposed the scale of losses across Solana perps vaults and drew sharp industry attention.
The Recovery Pool backing the DFX distribution currently holds roughly 3.11 million USDT against approximately 295.4 million USDT in verified losses, setting an early redemption rate near one cent on the dollar before secondary-market pricing adjusts. Drift has stated that one DFX token is issued per USDT of verified loss, while actual redemption value will depend on the size of the pool and the timing of any future distributions to claimants.
Funding for the pool includes a pledge of up to 127.5 million USDT from Tether and an additional 20 million USDT from partners, with the Recovery Pool continuing to grow from Velocity revenue until it covers the full amount of verified losses. The Drift Foundation has framed DFX as a long-term recovery instrument rather than a short-term reimbursement, meaning holders will only realize full value as the underlying pool expands over time.
The April 1, 2026 exploit drained funds from Drift's Solana perpetual futures vaults, and the foundation's subsequent rollout of DFX marks its first formal mechanism for returning capital to affected users. Claimants must use the original wallet tied to their Drift account at the time of the incident to access their DFX allocation, and the foundation has published guidance for verifying loss amounts and submitting redemption requests through its official portal.
