XRP Ledger Logs 10M x402 AI Payments—Agents Apparently Prefer Rails Without a CEO 🤖
The XRP Ledger has cleared 10 million x402 AI agentic payments, a milestone reached less than three months after the network first crossed the 1 million mark, according to data from the XRPL AI Hub and remarks from RippleX head of engineering J. Ayo Akinyele. Ripple-backed AI agentic payments infrastructure provider t54 Labs reported the figure on October 1, highlighting rapid growth in automated settlement activity on the ledger.
XRPL AI Hub data shows approximately 10.9 million all-time x402 transactions, with roughly 6,610 XRP and 9,870 RLUSD settled across 161 registered merchants. More than 600,000 x402 payments are currently being settled on the XRP Ledger each day, indicating sustained throughput from AI-driven activity on the network.
"10M+ x402 payments have now settled on the XRP Ledger, less than 3 months after hitting the 1M milestone," Akinyele said on X. He noted that larger volumes remain dominated by AI inference and data use cases, underscoring the protocol's positioning as a settlement layer for machine-to-machine transactions. The x402 framework is designed to enable AI agents to transact autonomously, and the XRPL deployment has become one of the more closely tracked implementations of the standard.
Separately, XRP price is trading near $1.50, with market analysts cited in coverage expressing a bullish outlook on the asset. The payment milestone adds to a year of expanding real-world settlement activity for the ledger, which has also hosted growing RLUSD stablecoin volume. Both XRP and RLUSD retain their original tickers throughout the x402 settlement process, and the XRPL continues to position itself as a low-fee, high-throughput destination for automated payment flows as the broader AI agent economy takes shape.
