Bloomberg Adds Stablecoins to Terminal, Finally Letting Wall Street Watch the Stable Part 🪙
Bloomberg has rolled out a stablecoin dashboard on its Terminal, putting onchain data for the $306 billion-plus stablecoin market in front of the banks, asset managers and trading desks that already rely on the platform for fixed-income, foreign-exchange and money-market information. The feature was announced on Wednesday and is accessible to all Terminal users through the RWAS <GO> command.
The dashboard is powered by blockchain data provider Allium and tracks stablecoins with more than $100 million in circulation, a group Bloomberg said accounts for over 98% of the market. Users can compare issuers by supply, mints, burns, transfer volume and velocity, and can filter activity by underlying blockchain network and peg type, including fiat currencies and commodities. Bloomberg framed the launch as a way to place onchain stablecoin metrics alongside its existing reference data and analytics tools.
Tether's USDT dominates the segment, representing roughly 60% of stablecoin market capitalization, according to data from DeFiLlama cited in the announcement. The overall stablecoin market capitalization has risen above $306 billion, DeFiLlama figures show, underscoring the scale of the asset class Bloomberg is now packaging for institutional users.
The Terminal already carries Bitcoin pricing, which it first added in 2014, and currently provides pricing, reference data, identifiers and benchmarks for 50 cryptocurrencies. Adding stablecoin supply and flow data extends that coverage to the tokenized dollar and commodity-pegged instruments that increasingly settle trades across crypto markets.
The move arrives as financial firms look for standardized ways to monitor stablecoin issuance and redemptions, which have become a significant source of crypto market liquidity. Bloomberg said the new dashboard is designed to give professional users the same kind of consolidated, comparable data view for stablecoins that they expect from traditional fixed-income and FX markets.
