Crypto.com's $15M Super Bowl AI Agent Still in Stealth Mode Eight Months After Crash 😬

Crypto.com's personal AI agent platform, ai.com, remains under construction nearly eight months after a $15 million Super Bowl ad sent traffic so high it crashed the company's website. A Crypto.com spokesperson told Cointelegraph that the product "continues building in stealth mode," adding that the company is "happy to provide more details when we fully launch to the public." As of late September, users visiting ai.com are still met with a message indicating that AI agent generation is queued due to high demand.

The platform was first pitched in February during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, where Crypto.com promoted an AI agent capable of performing a broad range of tasks, from trading stocks to updating online dating profiles. Within minutes of the ad airing, curious users overwhelmed the site trying to reserve handles for their own personal AI agents. The original announcement described agents that could organize work, send messages, operate across applications, build projects, develop missing capabilities themselves, and share those improvements across the network.

While ai.com has remained quiet, several rival exchanges have moved ahead with narrower AI offerings. Robinhood announced new in-app AI agents capable of automated trading on Tuesday. In July, Kraken introduced AI-driven financial tools designed to help users identify investment opportunities and execute trades based on their stated financial goals. Bitget launched its own AI crypto trading assistant, GetAgent, in June. Major AI developers have also broadened their assistants' capabilities over the same period, with Anthropic introducing computer use in Claude Cowork in March and OpenAI following in July with ChatGPT Work, an agent designed to complete multistep tasks across connected applications and files.

Crypto.com has continued to invest in AI outside of ai.com. In March, the company introduced an integration with OpenClaw that lets customers deploy a personal AI trading agent capable of executing trades. Also in March, Crypto.com announced a roughly 12% workforce reduction, with a spokesperson telling Cointelegraph at the time that the cuts were part of plans to prioritize resources around key growth areas, including company-wide AI integration. In February, Crypto.com also obtained ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, an international standard governing AI management systems and responsible development and deployment.
