Robinhood Goes Full Crypto-Bro: Perps, Weekend Hours, and AI That Actually Pulls the Trigger 🤖

Robinhood (HOOD) used its HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday to roll out its most ambitious product expansion in years, unveiling crypto perpetual futures with up to 10x leverage, weekend trading for select U.S. stocks and ETFs, and AI-powered agents capable of executing trades on a user's behalf. The brokerage also extended options trading hours, increased intraday margin, and introduced contracts that let users trade on corporate earnings metrics. Vice president of product management Abhishek Fatehpuria framed the strategy as "more assets, and then more hours," and said, "One of our top priorities as a company is to be number one for active traders. We're not focused on one particular asset class over another."

Weekend stock trading will route through Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system, and fills the final gap in Robinhood's 24 Hour Market, which launched in 2023 but had previously stopped on Saturdays and Sundays. The move comes as the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq have filed to expand their own trading hours, and as competitors Charles Schwab, Interactive Brokers, and Fidelity broaden offerings for investors accustomed to crypto's 24/7, year-round session. Crypto perpetual futures with leverage of up to 10x on $BTC and $ETH will be available to eligible U.S. customers.

The AI agent feature, announced earlier in 2026, lets users select OpenAI or Anthropic models to research markets and execute trades, with plans to allow standing instructions for fully automated strategies. Fatehpuria described the goal as a single account where users can "sell stocks, buy crypto, sell crypto, and trade prediction markets without thinking about which one you're in."
