Glassnode: $BTC Bear Hit 2026 Like a Polite Houseguest — Never Even Closed Below Realized Price 🧸
Bitcoin ($BTC) has not recorded a single daily close below its realized price during the current bear market, with the June 2026 low holding above that aggregate cost basis, according to Glassnode data reviewed by CryptoNews. If price maintains a position above the True Market Mean near $77,000, the June low would register as the shallowest bear-market bottom in Glassnode's comparison set, which stretches back to 2017.
The realized-price metric measures a narrow but specific condition: whether the average holder, taken in aggregate, was ever underwater. In the 2018–19 and 2022–23 cycles, $BTC traded below the realized price for months at a time. In the current cycle, that condition has not been met even once on a closing basis.
Glassnode's Percent Supply in Profit fell to roughly the same level at the June low as it did at the November 2022 bottom, indicating a comparable share of coins sitting at a loss. The divergence appears in magnitude. Net Unrealized Profit/Loss, or NUPL, which tracks aggregate paper gains or losses across the entire supply, remained positive throughout the cycle. In 2018 and 2022, NUPL collapsed deep into negative territory as the market moved into aggregate loss.
Smaller aggregate losses generally translate into less structural pressure to sell, a factor cited in the Glassnode commentary as consistent with the absence of the forced capitulation observed in prior cycles. The data set covers drawdowns compared across multiple bear-market regimes dating to 2017, with the realized price and True Market Mean serving as the principal benchmarks.
The on-chain profile through the June low indicates that cost-basis damage has been narrower in this cycle than in the two previous downturns, even as headline percentage drawdowns produced comparable stress signals in supply-in-profit readings. Glassnode's metrics track $BTC supply economics specifically and do not extend directly to other tickers, though the framework is applied across the firm's coverage of major digital assets.
