Fox-Geen Out: Circle's CFO Exits Stage Left as Neville Vacates the Board 🦊

—By our Markets Desk2 min read

Circle Internet Group said Chief Financial Officer Jeremy Fox-Geen will step down after more than five years at the $USDC issuer, with his departure scheduled for the end of December 2026 or whenever a successor is named. The company disclosed the transition on Sept. 25, 2026, the same day co-founder P. Sean Neville resigned from the board of directors for personal reasons, trimming the panel from eight members to seven. Circle characterized both exits as orderly and said neither involved any disagreement with management, while engaging an executive search firm to identify Fox-Geen's replacement.

Fox-Geen joined Circle in May 2021 and built the finance function from scratch as the company scaled its stablecoin operations. He guided Circle through its public listing and the 2022–23 crypto downturn. CRCL closed down 4.1% at $89.00 as the leadership turnover coincided with the rollout of the Arc blockchain and the implementation of GENIUS Act stablecoin rules.

The board shake-up leaves Circle, the issuer of the $USDC stablecoin, navigating a senior finance transition while simultaneously launching new infrastructure and adjusting to fresh U.S. regulatory guardrails for dollar-pegged tokens. A formal timeline for the CFO search has not been disclosed beyond the December 2026 target, and Circle has not announced interim finance leadership during the transition period.
