BlackRock Slaps Its Name on Three Ondo Tokens and Takes None of the Blame 🎩
BlackRock has developed three model portfolio strategies for Ondo Finance that now trade as single onchain tokens, marking a new phase in the world’s largest asset manager’s tokenization push. The portfolios—BLKHIon for high income, BLKDIGon for diversified growth, and BLKGRWon for high growth—package a mix of stocks, bonds and Bitcoin ETFs into transferable tokens and are available to eligible investors outside the U.S., according to a WSJ report and Ondo’s announcement on September 24, 2026. Each token carries a full allocation, rebalances itself, and can move peer-to-peer between wallets, with holdings, weights and rebalances visible onchain. The launch is part of Ondo’s rollout of seven tokenized model portfolios, with tokens issued by the platform tracking each portfolio’s performance through self-executing software that purchases underlying shares when tokens are bought.
Ondo’s disclosures state that BlackRock is “not the adviser, manager, sponsor, promoter, underwriter, marketer, or distributor” of the products, exercises “no supervision or control,” and has a potential conflict of interest. The structure gives BlackRock a tokenized presence built on crypto rails while leaving operational and regulatory responsibility with Ondo, an arrangement that observers say other asset managers are likely to copy as U.S. regulators have signaled a friendlier stance toward onchain products. The move follows BlackRock’s March 2024 launch of BUIDL, which placed a money market fund onchain, and a July tokenization by Ondo of BlackRock’s iShares Core S&P 500 ETF alongside Micron shares; those products, however, each wrapped a single instrument rather than a rebalancing multi-asset allocation.
The ONDO token jumped roughly 30% on the news, with the daily chart showing more than a 23% gain and prices trading around $0.508, breaking above the $0.4547 resistance that had capped the rally since the start of the period. Aggregated open interest climbed to approximately $292.6 million, its highest level, while the funding rate moved into positive territory near 0.0172, indicating a build-up of speculative long positions alongside the breakout. The next major technical level on the chart sits near $0.5207, which has capped prior attempts to push higher.
Last month, BlackRock introduced two tokenized money market funds designed as GENIUS-Act-compliant reserve assets for stablecoin issuers, and the Ondo partnership extends that tokenization effort into diversified portfolio strategies. Ondo Finance framed the launch as “a new onchain product category: curated investment portfolios delivered as single onchain transferable tokens,” positioning the firm beyond individual asset tokenization and deeper into structured investment products. With the SEC and CFTC recently clearing paths for additional onchain offerings, the BlackRock-Ondo structure is being closely watched as a template for how traditional asset managers may extend their brands into crypto-native distribution.
