Nine Figures, One Day: Bitcoin ETFs Print $999M and Finally Float Above Water 🟢

—By our Markets Desk3 min read

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in a net $998.95 million on Monday, the largest single-day haul since Oct. 6, 2025, when $BTC last traded around its record high near $126,200, according to SoSoValue. The inflow was the ninth-largest in the 141 weeks the funds have traded. BlackRock's IBIT led with $381.37 million, followed by Ark & 21Shares' ARKB at $289.12 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.84 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT added $61.67 million, Bitwise's BITB drew $21.56 million, and Grayscale's two funds took single-digit millions apiece, while VanEck's HODL and Valkyrie's BRRR posted zero flows.

The rally pushed $BTC above Bloomberg Intelligence's estimated ETF cost basis of $81,722 per coin, putting the average holder of a U.S. spot Bitcoin fund back in profit for the first time since January, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart. Bitcoin was trading near $85,900 at the time, around 5% above that mark. $ETH hit $2,750 and $SOL reached $120 in the broader move, with total crypto market cap climbing above $3 trillion and 97 of the top 100 coins green over seven days.

Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Eric Balchunas called Monday's total the biggest single-day haul since last October, while cautioning that flows booked to one session largely reflect the previous one. Monday's number likely captures Friday's buying rather than Monday's, he said, leaving the response to the latest price move still to show up. Seyffart noted the funds turned over about $4.5 billion, which he called not especially high given the size of the move in $BTC and slightly below the $4.6 billion they traded on Friday; Balchunas said the figure was elevated against stock and gold ETFs, with IBIT at or near the top 10 by volume.

Cumulative net inflows since launch now stand at $56.16 billion, with the funds holding $110.14 billion, equal to 6.30% of Bitcoin's market capitalization. The products have recorded six straight days of inflows totaling $2.84 billion, erasing a $5.8 billion year-to-date deficit from July 13 and leaving the annual tally at nearly $800 million in net inflows. The month-to-date total sits at $1.31 billion, following August's $3.52 billion, and roughly $4 billion has flowed in since U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's August announcement of increased bond purchases. Year-to-date inflows remain well below $35.2 billion in 2024 and $21.4 billion in 2025.

David Wachsman, president of Hawkeye Digital, said holders sitting on losses "often sell the first chance they get to break even," so much of this year's demand has had to absorb that supply. Vikas Gupta, country manager for India at Bybit, said "Bitcoin's recent recovery toward the $86K–$87K range is being supported by renewed institutional demand, stronger spot ETF inflows and evolving US regulatory developments." The market has held up despite the Fed's rate hike and the failure of the Clarity Act, Gupta added.
