BlackRock Hits "Ondo" Button: Three Model Portfolios Get the Token Treatment 🪙
BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has partnered with tokenization platform Ondo Finance to bring three of its investment portfolios onchain, according to a WSJ report. The rollout covers high growth, diversified growth, and high income strategies, each holding a mix of stocks, bonds, and Bitcoin ETFs depending on investor profile.
The three BlackRock portfolios form part of a broader launch in which Ondo Finance is rolling out seven tokenized model portfolios today. Ondo will issue tokens that track each portfolio's performance, with self-executing software programmed to buy shares in the underlying assets whenever a digital token is purchased, giving investors direct exposure to the underlying holdings.
The move extends BlackRock's tokenization push. Last month, the asset manager launched two tokenized money market funds structured as reserve assets compliant with the GENIUS Act for stablecoin issuers. The new model portfolios mark its latest step in translating traditional offerings into crypto-native formats.
Market reaction was visible in Ondo's native token. At the time of writing, $ONDO posted double-digit gains, though the figures were not specified in the report. BlackRock's three tokenized portfolios and the broader seven-portfolio set from Ondo Finance represent the full lineup announced in the partnership.
