Wallets holding between 100 and 1,000 $BTC have accumulated 113,950 Bitcoin since July 15, pushing their combined holdings up 2.22% to 5.24 million $BTC, according to on-chain analytics platform Santiment. The accumulation has unfolded alongside a $BTC price move that briefly tapped $87,000 earlier this week before retracing and stabilizing near $84,000.

Santiment has tracked the 100-to-1,000 $BTC cohort for five years and reported that periods of heavy accumulation by the group have historically aligned with shifts in broader market direction. The latest data shows the cohort continued adding coins through the recent price recovery.

Trace Finance co-founder Bernardo Brites cautioned that the speed of the rebound reflected, in part, a short squeeze rather than a uniform return of risk appetite. "I wouldn't read this as a broad return of risk appetite. Bitcoin rallying through a rate hike, $100 oil, and elevated yields suggests some investors are treating it as a hedge against inflation, fiscal and geopolitical risk rather than as a bet on easy money," Brites said.

The $87,000 level has emerged as a near-term reference point for traders watching whether the current accumulation translates into a sustained move higher or fades as positioning adjusts, with $BTC stabilizing near $84,000 at the time of writing.
