Bitcoin ETFs Almost Touch $1B in a Day, Drag Average Holder Kicking and Screaming Back to Profit

—By our Markets Desk3 min read

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $998.95 million on Monday, the largest single-day haul since Oct. 6, 2025, and the ninth-largest since the products began trading on Jan. 11, 2024, according to SoSoValue. BlackRock's IBIT led with $381.37 million, followed by Ark & 21Shares' ARKB at $289.12 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.84 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT added $61.67 million and Bitwise's BITB $21.56 million, while Grayscale's two funds took single-digit millions apiece; VanEck's HODL and Valkyrie's BRRR recorded nothing. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Eric Balchunas called it the biggest daily total since last October.

The inflow pushed Bitcoin above an estimated ETF cost basis of $81,722 per coin, returning the average holder of a U.S. spot Bitcoin fund to profit for the first time since January, according to Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart. Bitcoin was trading near $85,900 at the time, about 5% above that level, and later pushed through $86,500 on Tuesday. "Holders sitting on losses often sell the first chance they get to break even," said David Wachsman, president of Hawkeye Digital, noting that much of this year's demand has had to absorb that supply.

ETF turnover told a quieter story. The funds traded about $4.5 billion on Monday, slightly below the $4.6 billion on Friday and, by Seyffart's measure, not especially high relative to Bitcoin's move. Balchunas cautioned that flows booked to one session largely reflect the previous one, meaning Monday's figure likely captures Friday's buying rather than Monday's, leaving the response to this week's move still to come. Cumulative net inflows since launch now stand at $56.16 billion, with the funds holding $110.14 billion, equal to 6.30% of Bitcoin's market capitalization.

Bitcoin's quarterly gain of 44% has outpaced every other major asset, including gold, according to CoinDesk reporting. ETH traded at $2,750, SOL pushed to $120, and Hype, ZEC and VVV each hit new all-time highs, while 97 of the top 100 coins were green over seven days, per Decrypt. The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record Monday, up 2.26% for its best day since June, with Intel gaining 12% and AMD adding 10% as it crossed a $1 trillion market cap.

"Bitcoin's recent recovery toward the $86K–$87K range is being supported by renewed institutional demand, stronger spot ETF inflows and evolving US regulatory developments," said Vikas Gupta, country manager for India at Bybit, pointing to market resilience after the Fed's rate hike and the failure of the Clarity Act. Spot ETFs remain down $450 million on a year-to-date basis despite the latest inflows.
