AI Agents Need ID Cards Now, and Hedera's Cousin Says Hold My Distributed Ledger 🪪

Hashgraph Group (THG), a Swiss Web3 and AI firm, has secured a listing for its IDTrust digital identity platform on IBM's cloud marketplace alongside a global partnership with the U.S. technology giant, according to reporting from Investing.com. The move gives THG direct distribution into IBM's enterprise client base, marking one of the first commercial Hedera-based applications offered as a native service through a major cloud catalog.

The listing is accompanied by IBM Silver Partner status and an Embedded Solution Agreement covering IBM's cloud and AI technology, allowing THG to integrate IBM's tools directly into IDTrust rather than hosting the platform as a standalone third-party app. IDTrust issues verifiable digital identities to AI agents, devices, and people, and is already deployed with a European telecoms operator for verified caller identity.

IBM's relationship with Hedera predates the deal. The company has held a seat on Hedera's governing council since 2019, giving it a multi-year operational stake in the distributed ledger network that THG builds on. THG said passing IBM's validation process positioned IDTrust as discoverable and purchasable by enterprise buyers already shopping IBM's cloud ecosystem, a distribution channel most startups spend years trying to build independently.

The timing tracks with enterprise adoption forecasts. By the close of 2026, task-specific AI agents will be built into 40% of enterprise applications, up from fewer than 5% in 2025, according to Gartner. THG is positioning IDTrust as identity infrastructure for that wave, with verifiable credentials designed to confirm that an autonomous agent acting on a user's behalf is actually authorized to do so.

The Embedded Solution Agreement deepens technical integration beyond a typical marketplace listing, effectively wiring IBM's cloud and AI stack into THG's identity product rather than treating the two as separate offerings. For enterprise customers, the result is a single procurement path through IBM's catalog for an AI-agent identity layer built on Hedera's distributed ledger.
