Robinhood Chain's Free Gas Ends Sept. 29 — Will $146M in Tokenized Stocks Stay Parked? ⛽
Robinhood Chain had attracted $146 million in tradeable tokenized stocks as of the week ending Sept. 21, 2026, days before the blockchain's gas-fee rebate program was scheduled to expire on Sept. 29. The gas subsidy, in place since the chain's July 1 launch, has so far shielded wallet users from transaction costs, and no public data yet shows how activity will hold up once users begin paying those fees directly. Robinhood Chain did not respond to a request for comment ahead of the deadline.
The chain's early volume has shifted the competitive picture for tokenized equities on decentralized exchanges. Robinhood and BNB Chain together processed roughly 88.2% of tokenized-stock trading on DEXs in early September, up from 2.3% in June, according to figures cited by CryptoNews. The jump occurred within a single quarter and coincided with the rebate window. Analysts at CryptoNews said some portion of that activity is likely to recede once fees apply and characterized any subsequent rebound over the following months as a bullish signal for user retention independent of the subsidy.
Memecoin launches on Robinhood Chain have been a notable driver of transaction counts during the rebate period, and market observers flagged September 21 as a key inflection point heading into the Sept. 29 deadline. The chain's backers have framed tokenized U.S. equities as a step toward 24/7 on-chain settlement of traditional securities, though on-chain volumes remain small relative to centralized venues. Robinhood Markets, the chain's operator, has not disclosed how many unique wallets have transacted since launch.
The Sept. 29 expiry date applies to the gas rebate specifically, not to the chain's broader services or its partnership with BNB Chain infrastructure providers. Tokenized-stock products on the chain mirror equities such as individual U.S. public companies and trade on integrated DEX venues, with settlement handled by the chain's validator set. A Robinhood spokesperson did not provide updated figures on active tokenized-stock positions ahead of publication.
