Binance's Funding Account Gets a Rebrand, a New Job, and a Moving Truck 🚚
Binance will stop accepting on-chain crypto deposits to its Funding Account on September 29, 2026, the exchange said, beginning a migration of non-stock digital assets into users' Spot wallets that will run in batches from January 2027. The transfer is 1:1, and total asset value will not change, according to Binance. From January 2027, the Funding Account will be renamed "Stocks Account" and limited to stock and options settlement only. Six assets will remain available for stock settlement: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. Any other non-stock assets left in the wallet after September 29 will be auto-migrated to Spot on a 1:1 basis.
The restructuring follows a year of equity expansion on the platform. In June, Binance rolled out access to more than 7,000 US stocks and ETFs for non-US users, with fractional shares starting at $1. The exchange reported $1 billion in assets under management within 30 days of the launch and disclosed a $100 million purchase of Circle (CRCL) as part of the broader push into tokenized equities and traditional market products.
Users will still be able to trade, withdraw, and manage assets held in the Funding Account during the migration window, Binance said, and existing balances in stock-related instruments will move into the renamed Stocks Account. The change formalizes a split between Binance's stock and options settlement flow and its Spot, margin, and broader crypto product lines, which continue to operate as separate wallet structures across the platform.
